Community Banker Risks Freaky Failure Death For Community Residents, Including Children

Freaky Failure
Being in the wrong place at the wrong time to just by chance
suffer a loss because of someone else’s failure

I live next to the village park in a rural village. My house is on a county road, so lots of traffic passes my house. I also live a block from the downtown area of the village, including the post office. Lots of different people drive or walk or bike past my house daily.

On my front lawn near the road, I had a maple tree with three split trunks. One trunk leaned toward my house. One trunk leaned toward the park, though my driveway was between the tree and the park. One trunk leaned over the road. The tree trunks hollowed out because insects had eaten away the inside of the tree. Any trunk falling on its own could kill someone and damage property. All trunks falling together in a severe storm would be devastating.

I had banked at a community bank for more than a decade. The banker  (Community Banker) had gone out of his way more than once to help me keep my house. One year my insurance company sent me a letter informing me that I had to replace my roof or lose my insurance. Before I could call him to ask for a home equity loan, Community Banker called me to offer me a home equity loan. He gave me personal loans, car loans, business loans, and home equity loans. Even though a childhood spinal injury made earning money difficult, I paid back every single loan, some of them late, some of them early.

I didn’t have the money to cut the tree down myself, so I asked Community banker for a third home equity loan to cut down the tree, do some house repairs, and get the back into a professional speaking career. I wanted to protect my house, but I also wanted to protect all the people who drove, biked, and walked past my house. After decades of giving me multiple loans, Community Banker said no. He claimed I had no proof of enough income to pay back the loan. The real reason is that he didn’t want my grandson to be friends with his step-grandson. Read my journal entries for proof of everything I’ve written so far.

Community Banker Journal

Other bank customers live within a block or two of my house on that county road. One of those families has children. Community Banker risked freaky failure death for his own customers and their children rather than give me a home equity loan to cut the tree down.

If a falling trunk had killed a bank customer’s child, what would Community Banker have done? Would he have attended the funeral to comfort the grieving parents? Would he have explained  that the tree trunk fell because he refused to give me the home equity loan I wanted to prevent freaky failure death?

I eventually got the tree cut down by sending a letter explaining the situation to 10 of my neighbors. Several of them provided various resources to get the tree cut down.

Community Banker’s excuse for refusing the third home equity loan was that I was too old to be successful.

In reality, women over 60 can do quite well as professional speakers. Compared to some of the women on this list, I’m still young.

Community Banker had to ignore all kinds of details in my life to come to the conclusion that I could afford only senior county housing. (He also has no idea how senior county housing works. I am both too young and too healthy to qualify any time soon.) I’m also on the verge of launching a global business, Better Planet Business. I know it will be global because my Better Planet Business subscriber list includes small businesses in Central African Republic, England, Germany, Lithuania, Poland, and Russia. I already have my first U.S. members lined up.

Other community residents are complaining about this bank. When several customers complain about the same community bank, the problem is not with any individual customer. The problem is with the community bank. How many other customers has Community Banker stereotyped? How many other community residents are at risk of freaky failure because of Community Banker’s stereotypes?

Adults and children passing my house would have been in
the wrong place at the wrong time to just by chance
suffer a loss because of Community Banker’s failure
to protect their lives.

Freaky Failure From Juvenile Firesetters

Freaky Failure
Being in the wrong place at the wrong time
to just by chance suffer a loss
because of someone else’s failure

Arson fires —  fires set deliberately — kill people, maim people, destroy property, and damage property. More than half of arson firesetters are children. Children start fires for a variety of reasons. Childhood trauma is one of them.

Firestarting children act in response to parents who are absent, distant, or uninvolved.
(page 7)

Traumatized children set fires to express anger toward fathers for abuse and toward mothers for rejection, neglect, or abandonment.
(pages 9, 10, 11)

Severely disturbed juvenile firesetters have often endured such neglect and dysfuntional relationships with their parents that they experience PTSD and General Anxiety Disorder (GAD). Setting fires is one way to release anxiety.
(page 12)

The National Fire Protection Association estimates for fires set during 2007 to 2011 include:

282,600 intentional fires reported to U.S. fire departments each year

420 civilian deaths

1,360 civilian injuries

$1.3 billion in direct property damage

Parents who neglect and abuse their children create negative feelings in their children. Neglected and abused children who need to express those negative feelings too often do so by setting fires. The failure of parents to satisfy their children’s needs can lead to freaky failure for victims of child firesetters.

The Failure Of Hospital Workers Creates Freaky Failure For Hospital Patients

Originally published February 26, 2014.

Freaky Failure
Being in the wrong place at the wrong time
to just by chance suffer a loss
because of someone else’s failure

Every year, about 100,000 hospital patients die because of drug-resistant superbugs. In hospitals that use motion detectors to activate video cameras, electronic badges that track handwashing, and radio-frequency computer chips in sinks, “numerous medical professionals have been caught trying to cheat the system…” One hidden camera study found that only 10% of medical staff washed their hands. Medical professionals use these justifications to fail at handwashing:

High pressure environments

Tedium of washing hands

Focusing on difficult tasks rather than simple tasks

Resistance to authority

When Nature Causes Freaky Failure, Everyone Loses

Originally published October 30, 2014

Revised and republished November 5, 2015 after a web host transfer.

Freaky Failure Caused By Nature
Being in the wrong place at the wrong time to just by change
suffer a loss because of natural events

In 1958, the Pacific Ocean port city of Antofagasta, Chile decided to get its water from the Andes Mountains. The water coming down from the mountains was cheaper to use than well water was. In 1970, city officials discovered arsenic in the city’s water supply. It had come from mountain mineral deposits.

The city quickly switched back to using well water. However, citizens of Antofagasta suffered the freaky failure of higher rates of bladder and lung cancer because arsenic existed naturally in the water.

Freaky failure caused by nature affects people by area. Income, profession, racial group, educational level, etc., are no protection when nature creates failure.

School Anxiety In Children Causes Freaky Failure For Adults

Originally published February 21, 2013.

Updated and republished October 8, 2015 after a web host transfer.

Freaky Failure
Being in the wrong place at the wrong time to just by chance
suffer a loss because of someone else’s failure

Test anxiety faces every child who takes the minimum 17 exams from 3rd through 12th grade because of No Child Left Behind. Some students are faced with extra anxiety because of stereotypes. Girls face stereotypes that they cannot do well on math and science. Blacks and Latinos face stereotypes that they could not do well in college.

If parents and teachers fail to help children cope with their anxiety, students do not do as well on exams as they could. If children never get help with their anxiety, their performance will continue at less than their potential. When they somehow enter your life as adults (employees at a business you frequent, employees at a service provider you use, your colleague on the job), whatever they bring into your life will be less than what their potential was. You are then in the right place at the right time to just by chance suffer the loss of their best because parents and teachers failed to ease anxiety in children.
